Board of Trustees 

Regular Meeting 

March 28th, 2011

On March 28th, President Tim Moon called the Regular Meeting of the Marrowbone Public Library Board of Trustees to order at 7:16 pm. Roll Call was taken with the following members present: Tim, Christina Marshall, Carol Iler, Jennifer Ashley, Jennifer Matheson, Kris Seitz and Carolyn Austin. Librarians Sally Ascenzo and Lisa Spracklen (Co-Directors) and Lesa Oathout were also in attendance.

Minutes and Reports:

Minutes from the last meeting were read and approved as per a motion by Christina.

The treasurer’s report for February was reviewed. Carolyn motioned to accept the report & payment of bills and it was unanimously approved by roll call vote.

Unfinished Business:

An informal evaluation of the library's roof looks like it should last a few more years.

The librarians talked to a contractor, other libraries and Rolling Prairie about the costs and feasibility of pursuing an expansion. Financing options include fund raisers and donations, a matching construction grant from the State, TIF funding, and a tax referendum.

After much discussion, Christina motioned to hire an engineering firm to develop procedural documents and specifications for the proposed library expansion and the motion passed unanimously.

New Business:

The Board received an anonymous donation of $2000 to be used toward a building expansion.

The library received notification of approval of a 2011 Illinois Public Library Per Capita Grant in the amount of $2313.75.

The Village will be trying to hold the Farmer's Market again this spring.

Librarian's report:

Circulation is up. Children's programming is going strong and the Librarians are preparing for the Summer Reading program.
